I had the privilege of endorsing a book to be released this week, and it’s one I’d recommend to anyone seeking gospel-soaked encouragement while grappling with illness. Incurable Faith by Andrea Herzer is a devotional focused specifically on chronic illness. Herzer has struggled with lymphoma and chronic pain for years, and in this poignant book she combines reflections from her personal experience with exegesis of Scripture, pointing all the while to the rest and healing that only Christ offers. It’s an insightful and beautifully-written book, from a sister in Christ who knows what it means to weep, to walk in the valley of the shadow of death, and to find true rest in Jesus.
Andrea’s website is here. Her writing echoes Vaneetha Risner, who similarly has leaned into suffering and found deeper communion with Christ.
